P is for.... window?!

Here's a little arrangement that's located in my living room. The window is from my old house that I painted and the large, metal "P" is a flea market find. I'm still working on adding something and maybe moving the small photos to another area of the house... still moving things around and seeing what works where. I keep reminding myself that decorating is a process and not a sprint, which is a hard lesson for me to learn :)   Eventually I'm going to run out of space...

deLightful!

Ta-da! (as Graham says) the chandelier is finished, and installed in the laundry room! So excited about how well it turned out. It hung (without working) for about a month but luckily it was a quick fix (once the electrician came over).

In a holding pattern

Lately, the house beautifying projects have sort of been in a holding pattern. You see, the painter had to cancel at the last minute and that means that the hallway, staircases haven't been painted. Which leads to the fact that my window haven't been hung in the staircase (it's too tall for me to hang) which leaves me unmotivated to do anything until that is done.

I did buy Chevron shower curtains from Urban Outfitters to use as curtain panels for the family room... did you know that shower curtains are substantially shorter than panels? I do, now. Those have been returned. Now, I think I'm going to be forced to find a substitute or DIY my own...

Oh, and I did get the chandelier for the laundry room finished and hung up.... but it doesn't work. So I'm going to have to get that rewired. Do you know whats worse than doing laundry? Doing laundry in the dark.

Oh well. Onward and Upward :)

Smallish Hallway Update

I was inspired one afternoon and decided to update the very small hallway downstairs with a fresh coat of paint.... look very closely and you'll be able to see the difference :)

Just a small difference between a pinkish base and a gray base. Good enough- I love it :)

Family/Playroom Inspiration

Well, things are coming along here. I've taken off the sockets and painted behind them... that's progress, right? I still haven't actually gone to the paint store to pick up the gallons of paint i'll need. Oh well. We're going out of town with friends this weekend, so there won't be anytime to paint. But, hopefully I'll find some curtains and decorations for the room AND I'll get to go to ikea to pickup our cubes. Yay! Here's to hoping that they'll fit in the car.
So, here's what we have so far:
Wall Color: Sherwin Williams, Comfort Gray

Finally Found

Finally found the one! It only took 10 paint samples, hours at the paint store and researching on pinterest but I've finally settled on Comfort Gray by Sherwin Williams for the family room. What. A. Relief. Maybe I can get some sleep now. Below is an example of the color, thanks to Pinterest. I can't wait to have it up. I'm also painting the fireplace gray. I'll have before and after pictures shortly.

Paint and Wallpaper

Feeling very hopeful that I've found the perfect paint sample at Sherwin Williams today. Excited to go home at put them on the wall. Before long there's going to be more paint samples on the wall than original paint.... maybe I'll just go with that :)

While I was at the paint store, waiting on my samples to be mixed,  I perused the Modern Home wallpaper sample book. In LOVE with a few options for below the chair rail in the dining room. I'm usually anti-wallpaper, and still am for the most part, but I really loved some of the options.  These are just a few of the pretties. The pictures don't do them justice- they're beautiful, textured paper. After the family room is done the next project is the dining room. Yay!

Welcome!

Hello, there! Welcome to the blog.

We've been in our current house about four months now and I'm going crazy for inspiration for a paint color for our family/playroom. Suggestions are appreciated. Other than that, the house progress is coming along lovely. This house isn't really in need of any major projects (unlike our last house- wow, we completely  remodeled the entire house. Fortunately it paid off and we sold it fairly quickly) but I definitely want to make some changes to make it "ours."

In the past four months the laundry room and Graham's abode have been pained (the first day actually- thanks to my Dad!), the master bedroom and one of the guest bedrooms have been painted and now I'm searching for right paint colors for the family room as well as the hallways.... I don't want my house to look like painting disaster, so, my next step is to come up with a color pallet for the house. Similar to the one below, not the colors- but the idea. I want a cohesive look, so I think this will help direct me. Okay, on to the paint store for samples. Have a great day!
